High School Chemistry Students Practice Alchemy
December 02, 2019
High School Chemistry students explored the works of Tycho Brahe and the roots of alchemy by turning copper into gold! Students practiced lab safety and used metals, acids, and a Bunsen burner to transform a copper penny into a silver coin, then a gold coin. Students were able to determine that the gold coins were in fact not gold, but brass. Thankfully, no noses were harmed in the making of our fake gold coins (unlike scientist Tycho Brahe).
