High School Makes Changes to Extended Learning

February 11, 2020

The Nodaway-Holt High School has made the decision to amend the current Extended Learning procedure to now allow juniors and seniors the freedom to choose whether or not to attend. Juniors and seniors will still be placed on Extended Learning for missing assignments and poor quality assignments (receiving under a 65% on the assignment), and contact will still be made to guardians (either through email or by phone), just like with the old procedure, however whether or not they decide to attend Extended Learning to receive additional help from teachers is up to the student.

By giving juniors and seniors the option whether or not they will attend, we are allowing them to take ownership of their learning and their education.

  • If a junior or senior is on Extended Learning for a missing assignment and they choose not to attend, they will receive a 0 for that assignment.
  • If a junior or senior is on Extended Learning for a poor quality assignment and they choose not to attend, they will receive the credit they earned initially.
  • If a junior or senior is on Extended Learning for having a D or F letter grade in a class and they choose not to attend, they forfeit the additional help they would receive from teachers attending Extended Learning.

Please note, if a junior or senior has earned an F letter grade they are still ineligible to participate in extracurricular activities until the grade has been raised, and is no longer an F, when the next grade check has been conducted.
