April 11, 2023
Graham, MO - Tranquility Racing, a high school STEM RC racing team at Nodaway-Holt, is proud to announce their sponsors for regional competitions. The team has been working tirelessly over the past several months to build and race their RC cars, and they are ready to compete.
Team captain Chase Sportsman expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the team's sponsors. “Quick Stop in Maitland, Davis Fertilizer, Morris technical co, Lemar Seed & Service and Kool Kats in Maryville are all sponsoring our team. Their sponsorship allows us to purchase replacement parts, 3D printer spools, and paint for the cars.” The local sponsors also covered the entry fee and curriculum from Ten80 Education. “Mitch and Mandy at US Bank sponsored the team this year and purchased us a new car to experiment with” said Chase. “As part of the curriculum we find sponsors for the cars.”
Tranquility Racing is made up of a group of highly skilled and dedicated students from Nodaway-Holt High School, who have a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The team competes in local and regional competitions against other high school teams, showcasing their skills in building, maintaining, and racing RC cars.
Over the past semester students have worked in committees to prepare for the race. The Graphic Design Team created the exterior design of the RC car and team shirts. The data driven design team has been creating and 3D printing a drag racing body and spoiler as well as testing components of the RC for speed and acceleration. The social media team has been highlighting team members and sponsors on Facebook and the advertising team contacted sponsors and has been managing the budget.
Tranquility Racing will be competing in the regional competition in Kansas City in April. The team will compete in several races including; most laps in 5,10, 30 minutes, fastest lap, and fastest drag racing to demonstrate their expertise in designing and modifying their RC cars.
RC Driver Kendall Boles is looking forward to the race. "We are thrilled to compete in the regional competition in Kansas City. We worked tirelessly to prepare for this competition, and it'll be an incredible feeling to see our hard work pay off. We are eager to continue improving and representing our school in future competitions."
