Northwest Regional Teacher of the Year Candidate

On April 29, 2021 a ceremony was conducted at Northwest Missouri State University to honor Mr. Kenneth Hamilton, among others, who were nominated as Northwest's Regional Teacher of the Year. Mr. Hamilton was nominated during the 2019-2020 school year, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic the ceremony was delayed.
Mr. Hamilton has gone above and beyond to ensure that our student’s needs are being met in multiple aspects, and a variety of ways. Though he teaches in the science department, Mr. Hamilton is at the school’s forefront in interpreting student data to positively impact students and their learning across all departments. Kenneth is constantly running reports, interpreting data, and creating initiatives to meet student’s needs, create incentive rewards programs, and promote a positive school culture.
Additionally, Mr. Hamilton has led teacher meetings where he described his data interpretations and assisted in the implementation of student RTI teams where students could meet with different teachers, based upon need, during our Rotating Study Hall to ensure we were meeting those student’s needs.
Though Kenneth has been teaching for several years, he is still a lifelong learner and is always willing to share his knowledge with others. This is evident in the fact that he consistently listens to teaching podcasts, has been a presenter at multiple 275 Conference PD Days and Interface Science Conferences at Tan-Tar-A.
Mr. Hamilton sacrifices his own personal time for our students spending time with them after school, working with them before school and during his Plan period, and often times coming in on days off. He is one of the many foundational members of a positive school culture and pours out success into everyone he encounters through dedication, hard work, and empathy. Kenneth has had tremendous positive impact on our district and its stakeholders.
