Education Foundation Continues Support for Teachers

September 27, 2024

On Thursday, September 19, 2024 the Administration Team and the Education Foundation met to review Education Foundation Teacher Grant Applications, review the foundation’s expenditures and current balance, and discuss former scholarship recipients.

The Education Foundation continues to make a significant impact in the classroom by awarding $500 grants to teacher applicants in an attempt to help enhance student learning experiences. The initiative, designed to support educators with additional resources, allows teachers to invest directly in their students' education. Grants can be used to purchase field trip experiences, classroom supplies, technology, books, or materials for creative learning projects. This year the foundation received 22 teacher applications, which they generously elected to fund all applications.

One of the foundation’s goals is to empower teachers with the tools they need to create dynamic and innovative learning environments. By providing these funds, the foundation is not only supporting educators but also enriching the education of students across the district.

In addition to the teacher grants, the Education Foundation is also continuing their support for teachers through the Trojan Educators Achieving More (T.E.A.M.) program. The purpose of T.E.A.M. is to encourage teacher participation outside the normal school day to assist in raising the student achievement of Nodaway-Holt students. The intention of this program is to strengthen opportunities currently offered to students and expand additional opportunities and experiences for all students while recognizing, and rewarding, the efforts, dedication, and sacrifices made by Nodaway-Holt teachers.

"Through the support of teacher grants, the education foundation has empowered our district's educators to innovate in the classroom, enhancing learning experiences and inspiring students to reach new heights" district superintendent Mike Hollingsworth said when asked about the impact the foundation has had on the district. He went on to say that, "having this level of support creates a tremendous impact on both our teachers and students. It's such a valuable asset that our administration highlights it as a key recruiting tool when attracting new teacher candidates—something many other schools simply can't offer."

Last year, the foundation contributed over $37,000 to the Nodaway-Holt School District through student scholarships, teacher grants, T.E.A.M., band instrument purchases, and mulch for the new playground.

On behalf of the Nodaway-Holt School District we would like to thank all Education Foundation members, and their donors, for their continued support. Your contributions have impacted student’s lives well beyond the scope you will ever know. The Education Foundation’s continued dedication to the district demonstrates the power of community-driven support, making a meaningful difference in both the lives of teachers and students. An impact that will last a lifetime.

If you would like to donate to the Education Foundation, or thank an Education Foundation Member, please reach out to Education Foundation President Mike Hanson.
